India releases ₹768 crore for Veligonda Project displaced families

The government has disbursed ₹768 crore in compensation to 6,206 families displaced by the Veligonda Project, marking significant progress in settling claims related to the major irrigation infrastructure development.
The Social Welfare Minister said all displaced persons would receive their full entitlements, emphasising the commitment to complete the compensation process. The official urged affected families not to be concerned about delays or to give credence to unverified reports circulating in the region.
The Veligonda Project, a key water resource initiative in South India, has required the relocation of numerous families from the project area. Authorities have structured compensation packages to address the livelihood and housing needs of those displaced by the infrastructure development.
The government's assurance comes as it works to finalise remaining compensation claims. Officials have encouraged displaced families to engage with project authorities through established grievance channels to resolve any outstanding issues or documentation requirements.
