Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal visited the Port of Rotterdam and held discussions with Port CEO Boudewijn Siemons to explore digitalisation of cargo handling operations. The two ports plan to collaborate on modernising logistics infrastructure to streamline maritime trade processes between India and the European region.

The digitalisation initiative is expected to reduce cargo processing times, minimise documentation delays, and enhance transparency in port operations. Such technological upgrades align with India's broader push to modernise its port infrastructure and increase efficiency in global trade corridors.

Rotterdam, Europe's largest port, handles significant volumes of Indian exports and imports, making it a crucial node in India-Europe trade relations. The collaboration underscores India's commitment to adopting international best practices in port management and digital infrastructure development.

The partnership reflects growing momentum in India-Europe maritime cooperation, with both nations seeking to strengthen trade linkages through improved logistics infrastructure. Enhanced digitalisation at major international ports is expected to benefit Indian exporters and importers by reducing costs and expediting cargo clearance.
