India's Department of Higher Education Secretary Deepti Gaur Mukherjee held discussions with Russian Deputy Minister of Science and Higher Education Konstantin Ilyich Mogilevsky on Thursday, the Ministry of Education announced on Friday.
Both delegations explored potential avenues for mutual cooperation and reiterated their commitment to strengthening academic and research ties between the two nations. The interaction underscores ongoing efforts to deepen educational partnerships in areas of shared interest.
Mukherjee, who took office following a top-level bureaucratic restructuring by the Centre on August 10, succeeds Vineet Joshi in the role. Joshi was transferred to lead the Ministry of Panchayati Raj last month.
The discussions between the two countries reflect broader efforts to expand people-to-people engagement and institutional linkages in higher education, a sector where India and Russia have historically maintained strong collaboration through student exchanges, research partnerships, and academic agreements.
