India's Cabinet ministers gather for governance-focused strategy conclave

The Union Cabinet will hold an intensive 'Chintan Shivir' (brainstorming session) on September 23 and 24 at 'Seva Teerth', the seat of the Prime Minister's Office, to assess governance priorities and policy execution frameworks. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the conclave, which will bring together the entire council of ministers for wide-ranging deliberations on key administrative matters.

The two-day session is expected to encompass discussions on the progress of government flagship schemes, implementation of policies, time management protocols, coordination mechanisms between ministries, and enhancement of public service delivery standards. The focus on reforms reflects the government's broader commitment to strengthening institutional effectiveness across various domains of governance.

In preparation for the conclave, organisers have constituted six working groups, each comprising eight ministers, to examine critical issues including time-bound programme implementation and other governance-related challenges. These groups have already conducted multiple preparatory meetings to develop substantive presentations and policy recommendations to be tabled during the main session.

The brainstorming conclave represents an effort to streamline Cabinet functioning and ensure coordinated policy implementation across different government departments and ministries. Senior government officials indicated that the session would also provide an opportunity for ministers to share best practices and address inter-departmental challenges affecting service delivery to citizens.
