Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal conducted a round of strategic meetings with leading figures from major US financial and consumer companies on Monday, underscoring New Delhi's push to attract foreign capital and strengthen bilateral economic partnerships.

Goyal met with Jonathan Gray, President and Chief Operating Officer of investment firm Blackstone, alongside Prakash Melwani, Chairman of Blackstone's International Private Equity business. The discussions centred on identifying new opportunities for Blackstone to expand its investment footprint and deepen partnerships across key sectors of the Indian economy.

The Commerce Minister also engaged with George Walker, Chairman and CEO of asset management firm Neuberger Berman, accompanied by senior executives including Anthony Tutrone, Global Head of Neuberger Markets; Andrew Komaroff, Chief Operating Officer; and Zain Naqi, Managing Director. During the meeting, Goyal explored avenues for enhanced collaboration and investment from the firm.

Additionally, Goyal met with Stephane de La Faverie, President and CEO of The Estee Lauder Companies, to discuss business opportunities in India's growing consumer sector. These engagements reflect India's broader strategy to position itself as an attractive destination for institutional capital and multinational enterprise expansion.

The meetings form part of wider efforts by the Indian government to accelerate foreign direct investment and strengthen economic linkages with the United States, India's significant economic and strategic partner.
