India's consumer durables market set to double to ₹3.25 trillion by 2030
India is poised to remain the world's fastest-growing consumer durables market, with projections showing the sector will expand to ₹3-3.25 lakh crore by 2030. The expansion is expected to unlock substantial domestic manufacturing opportunities worth ₹40,000-50,000 crore across components and materials production.

India's consumer durables sector is positioned for robust expansion over the next five years, according to analysis by the Boston Consulting Group and the Confederation of Indian Industry. The market is forecast to grow at an annual rate of 8-10 per cent through 2030, reaching between ₹3 trillion and ₹3.25 trillion in value.
This growth trajectory significantly outpaces major global peers. China, which currently holds the world's largest consumer durables market, is expected to expand at just 1-2 per cent annually through 2030. The United States is projected to grow by 3 per cent, while Japan's market is anticipated to expand between 1-3 per cent over the same period.
Several structural factors are driving India's accelerated expansion. Rising household penetration of appliances, growing nuclearisation of families, increasing per capita incomes, and improved access to consumer financing are reshaping demand patterns. Simultaneously, wider retail distribution networks and consumer appetite for premium products are supporting higher price realisation across categories.
The growth trajectory also presents significant opportunities for domestic value addition. The projected expansion could generate between ₹40,000 crore and ₹50,000 crore in additional investment opportunities across materials and component manufacturing, potentially strengthening India's role in the global consumer durables supply chain.
