India's economy robust; energy security critical for sustained growth

Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Monday underscored India's economic resilience, asserting that the country maintains a stable and strong position despite widespread global challenges. Speaking at the Indian Foundation for Quality Management Symposium 2026, Chandrasekaran noted that multiple economic indicators confirm the nation's robust fundamentals and consistent outperformance of expectations in recent years.

Chandrasekaran highlighted three critical areas necessary for sustaining India's growth trajectory. Energy security emerged as a primary concern, alongside the creation of advanced manufacturing jobs and continued investment in developing human capital. He stressed that addressing these dimensions will be essential for maintaining economic momentum over the coming decades.

The Tata Sons chief linked these priorities to India's broader development agenda, referencing the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He stated that realizing this long-term vision requires an approach grounded in inclusive and sustainable development, underpinned by world-class infrastructure, robust institutions, and strong intellectual property frameworks. Chandrasekaran emphasized that all three elements are equally critical to the nation's future economic trajectory.

Chandrasekaran recently secured his third consecutive five-year term as Tata Sons Chairman following a contentious boardroom process. His remarks reflect the conglomerate's perspective on India's economic positioning and the structural requirements for maintaining competitiveness in an uncertain global environment.
