India is poised for unprecedented economic expansion, with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval forecasting the country's GDP will grow nearly ninefold to $38 trillion within 20 years from its current level of $4.015 trillion.
Addressing the convocation ceremony at the Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee on Saturday, Doval told graduates they are entering a transformative era brimming with opportunity. "Massive changes are taking place in India, and the country is moving towards a magnificent future," he said, noting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has designated the period leading up to 2047 as 'Amrit Kaal'—a golden age of transformation.
Urging the graduating class to embrace courage and determination in their careers, Doval drew on historical references to underscore his message. He cited the example of Lord Ram, noting that the sage Vishwamitra selected the legendary figure to vanquish demons precisely because of his courageous character. The NSA emphasized that such qualities would be essential for India's youth as they contribute to the nation's development trajectory.
Doval's remarks reflect growing optimism among India's policy leadership regarding the country's economic potential. The projected expansion would represent a significant acceleration from recent growth trends, positioning India among the world's largest economies by 2047.
