India's Jaishankar set to address UN General Assembly on September 26

India's External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar is scheduled to address the UN General Assembly during its annual high-level General Debate on September 26 afternoon, according to a revised provisional speakers list released Friday.

The 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly will commence on September 8, with the General Debate running from September 22 to 28. During this week-long event, representatives from the 193-member organisation will present their nations' positions on global issues.

Jaishankar's appearance at the world stage follows his address to world leaders at the UN lectern last year, continuing India's active engagement with the multilateral body. Brazil will traditionally open the General Debate on September 22, followed by the United States. US President Donald Trump is scheduled to address the assembly on the opening day of the General Debate.

The 81st session will be presided over by Bangladesh Foreign Minister Khalilur Rahman, who was elected in June to lead the 193-member organisation. The General Debate provides world leaders with a significant platform to articulate their countries' positions and priorities on pressing global concerns.
