India's passenger vehicle dispatches surge 36.5% in August

Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches from manufacturers to dealers climbed 36.5 percent year-on-year to 439,309 units in August, the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers said on Tuesday. The figures represent a significant acceleration compared to 321,901 units dispatched during the same month last year.

The robust growth in passenger vehicles was complemented by strong performance across other vehicle segments. Two-wheeler sales increased 10.5 percent to reach 20,34,698 units in August, compared with 18,41,954 units in August of the previous year, indicating sustained demand in the mass-market mobility segment.

Three-wheeler dispatches also demonstrated healthy expansion, climbing 22.8 percent month-on-month to 93,764 units from 76,324 units recorded a year earlier. The across-the-board growth suggests broad-based recovery in India's automotive sector, driven by increasing consumer purchasing power and economic activity.
