India's renewable energy push cushioned West Asia crisis impact: Modi

India's economy has weathered the recent West Asia crisis better than many nations, with clean energy investments playing a crucial stabilising role, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Tuesday. Inaugurating the Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo, Modi highlighted how India's diversification into renewable energy sources has insulated the country from the full brunt of global economic shocks.

The Prime Minister warned that countries with excessive dependence on fossil fuels face disproportionate exposure to international disruptions. As oil prices fluctuate in response to geopolitical tensions and supply chain disruptions, Modi argued that nations investing heavily in renewables achieve greater economic resilience and energy security.

India's continued economic expansion amid global uncertainty reflects the strategic value of the country's renewable energy expansion, Modi said. The government has set ambitious targets for clean energy capacity, seeking to reduce fossil fuel dependency while positioning India as a global leader in sustainable energy solutions.

The Bharat Renewable Energy Summit & Expo brings together industry stakeholders, policymakers and international partners to accelerate India's clean energy transition. The event underscores New Delhi's commitment to scaling renewable capacity while supporting long-term economic stability and energy independence.
