India's exclusive club of companies valued at ₹1 trillion or above has expanded substantially, with the membership swelling to 119 firms by the end of FY27, up 27 per cent from the previous fiscal year. The growth underscores the increasing scale and maturity of Indian businesses, even as macroeconomic headwinds persist across global markets.
Pharmaceutical manufacturer Laurus Labs exemplified the strong performance among new inductees to the elite group. The company's market capitalization surged 92 per cent to ₹1.03 trillion from ₹53,546 crore as of March 30, 2026, propelled by robust demand in its core segments and operational efficiency gains.
The expansion of the trillion-rupee club reflects sustained investor appetite for Indian equities and the growing competitiveness of domestic companies on the global stage. The pharmaceutical sector, in particular, has demonstrated resilience and growth potential, with several firms achieving significant valuations through innovation and strategic market positioning.
Analysts attribute the growth to multiple factors, including strong corporate earnings, healthy domestic consumption, and improving corporate governance standards. The broadening of the trillion-rupee club suggests that wealth creation through equity markets remains a key driver of India's economic expansion.
