Home Minister Amit Shah declared the deportation a 'historic milestone' for the Modi government, highlighting the successful operation to apprehend the fugitive drug kingpin. Singh had obtained Turkish citizenship under the alias Navab Virk while allegedly orchestrating large-scale narcotics smuggling operations into India.
According to Shah, Indian investigative agencies conducted extensive surveillance to identify Singh's true identity beneath multiple layers of concealment. The coordinated effort between Indian authorities and Turkish officials culminated in his extradition and immediate custody in connection with drug trafficking and related criminal charges.
'Our agencies tracked him down, ripping apart veil after veil to unmask his true identity, and secured his deportation,' Shah said in a statement posted on social media. He noted that Singh is now detained in India facing prosecution for his alleged crimes.
Shah reaffirmed the government's commitment to dismantling drug trafficking networks, stating that the Modi administration is dedicated to destroying every narco-cartel before December 2029. The minister credited all investigating agencies involved in the operation for their success in bringing the fugitive to justice.
