India set to launch 100% ethanol-powered vehicle next month
Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari said India has reported no complaints regarding ethanol-blended fuels currently in use, as the country prepares to introduce a completely ethanol-powered vehicle. The new automobile will also generate 60% of its own electricity, according to the minister.

India is on the verge of becoming among the first nations to commercially deploy a vehicle running entirely on ethanol fuel, with a major automobile manufacturer set to launch the model next month, according to Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari.
Gadkari said that ethanol-blended fuels are already being used in 19 countries worldwide without any operational complaints reported in India. The upcoming 100% ethanol-powered vehicle, which will be introduced by Toyota, represents a significant step forward in alternative fuel adoption for the Indian automotive sector.
The vehicle's innovative design includes a feature that generates 60% of its electricity requirements, addressing concerns about energy efficiency and reducing dependency on external charging infrastructure. This dual-fuel capability is expected to enhance the vehicle's overall sustainability quotient while maintaining practicality for Indian consumers.
The development aligns with India's broader push towards cleaner automotive technologies and reduced carbon emissions. Ethanol, derived from biomass sources like sugarcane, offers a renewable alternative to conventional fossil fuels and has gained international acceptance as a viable transportation fuel.
