India slams OIC over 'orchestrated' critical remarks at Baghdad meeting

India's Ministry of External Affairs issued a sharp rebuke on Tuesday against remarks made by the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation at its Baghdad meeting, dismissing the criticisms as malicious, false, and coordinated by Pakistan.
The MEA stated that the OIC has "no locus standi whatsoever" to intervene in matters that fall strictly within India's sovereign purview. The ministry's statement underscored New Delhi's position that comments from the 57-member bloc on internal Indian affairs are neither appropriate nor welcome.
The timing of the OIC's remarks at its Baghdad congregation drew particular scrutiny from Indian officials, who attributed the critical references to Pakistan's influence within the organization. This characterization reflects longstanding tensions between Islamabad and New Delhi over how regional disputes are raised in multilateral forums.
The incident marks another instance of India pushing back against international organizations' commentary on its domestic policies. New Delhi has consistently maintained that bilateral and internal issues should not be elevated to multilateral platforms, particularly those where members may hold political interests contrary to India's own.
