The Board of Control for Cricket in India has approved the relocation of the India-Sri Lanka ODI from the capital to Andhra Pradesh's coastal city. The match, originally slated for Delhi, will now be held at the ACA-VDCA Cricket Stadium in Visakhapatnam on December 13, 2026.
The decision was made following a formal request from the Delhi and District Cricket Association (DDCA), which cited multiple concerns about hosting the fixture in the national capital during that period. The reasons cited include deteriorating air quality during December, challenging weather conditions, and ongoing renovation work at Delhi's cricket venues.
Visakhapatnam has emerged as the alternative venue, offering improved conditions for both players and spectators. The coastal location in Andhra Pradesh is expected to provide better environmental conditions compared to Delhi in mid-December. The ACA-VDCA stadium has previously hosted international cricket fixtures and meets ICC standards for ODI matches.
The relocation marks a significant change to the bilateral series schedule between the two neighbors. Both cricket boards have confirmed their agreement to the venue change, ensuring the match proceeds as planned despite the shift in location.
