India Summons Pakistan Diplomat Over Firozpur Border Incident

The Ministry of External Affairs summoned Pakistan's charge d'affaires on Thursday to lodge a strong protest against what India characterized as Pakistani involvement in cross-border infiltration attempts. The diplomatic intervention followed mounting tensions over security incidents along the India-Pakistan border in Punjab.

Delhi dismissed allegations surrounding the October 2 incident in Firozpur sector as baseless and unfounded. According to the Indian government's account, three individuals crossed into Indian territory and proceeded toward the border fence despite multiple warnings issued by Border Security Force personnel stationed in the area.

Official sources stated that BSF troops exercised restraint and issued successive cautions to the intruders. However, when the individuals continued advancing toward the fence and posed an imminent security threat, BSF personnel were compelled to take necessary action to secure the border.

The incident reflects renewed tensions along the heavily militarized international boundary, where security forces maintain round-the-clock vigilance. India has consistently emphasized that it holds Pakistan responsible for supporting cross-border infiltration attempts and has repeatedly conveyed its concerns through diplomatic channels.
