The central government has given its approval for the establishment of five Classical Language Centres to be set up across different states in India. These facilities will serve as dedicated hubs for scholarly work and preservation efforts focused on the country's classical languages.

The centres have been designed with a multifaceted approach to language preservation and promotion. Their primary objectives include strengthening academic research, digitising classical texts and materials, preserving linguistic heritage, and facilitating wider dissemination of knowledge related to these languages among scholars and the general public.

The distribution of these centres across five states is intended to ensure regional accessibility and enable scholars from different parts of the country to engage with classical language studies. By creating geographically dispersed facilities, the government aims to foster a more inclusive approach to the study and preservation of India's classical linguistic traditions.

This initiative reflects the government's commitment to safeguarding India's rich cultural and intellectual heritage. Classical languages form a crucial part of the country's historical identity, and these dedicated centres are expected to play a significant role in ensuring their continued study and appreciation for future generations.
