Union Road Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari met with Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Satheesan to discuss accelerating national highway and state road development initiatives across Kerala. The discussions focused on removing bottlenecks and streamlining approvals for several pending infrastructure projects in the southern state.
Gadkari assured the Chief Minister that the Union Cabinet would grant necessary approval for the Thiruvananthapuram Outer Ring Road project in the near term. The project, intended to decongest traffic in the state capital, has been pending clearance from the central government. The minister's commitment signals the Centre's intent to prioritize Kerala's transportation infrastructure needs.
Beyond the Thiruvananthapuram project, the meeting addressed broader highway and road development across Kerala. Officials discussed implementation timelines and resource allocation for multiple pending road initiatives that have faced delays.
The engagement reflects ongoing coordination between the state and central governments on infrastructure development, with both parties emphasizing the need to improve connectivity and reduce logistics costs across the region.
