India to launch nationwide anti-drug enforcement drive from October
The Narcotics Control Bureau will coordinate with state and union territory task forces to inspect medical stores and pharmacies across India, targeting the diversion of pharmaceutical drugs into narcotics trafficking networks.

India's anti-narcotics authorities are set to intensify enforcement operations with a coordinated nationwide campaign beginning in October. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), working alongside State and Union Territory Anti-Narcotics Task Forces (ANTFs), will conduct systematic inspections of medical retailers and pharmaceutical establishments to curb the illegal diversion of regulated drugs.
The fortnightly drives will be executed in close coordination with drug controllers in respective jurisdictions. Officials will focus on identifying and preventing the diversion of pharmaceutical drugs from legitimate medical channels into the illicit narcotics market, a persistent challenge in India's drug enforcement landscape.
