The Embassy of India in France has advised Indian nationals residing in the country and those planning to travel there to remain alert and take necessary precautions given the current security situation. In a statement released Wednesday, the mission urged citizens to steer clear of large gatherings and areas where demonstrations are concentrated, while complying with directions from local law enforcement authorities.
"In view of the recent developments and localised curfews imposed in France, please remain vigilant and exercise due caution," the embassy stated in its advisory.
France has been roiled by escalating civil unrest in recent weeks, with protests initially centred on grievances over secondary education conditions before expanding into broader anti-government demonstrations. The agitation has been fuelled by public discontent over inflation and rising cost of living across the nation. The disturbances have been marked by destructive incidents including looting, arson and violent clashes between protesters and police forces.
Indian authorities have asked nationals to stay updated on developments through local media coverage and official announcements from French authorities. The embassy also recommended that citizens maintain contact with the mission and register with it for emergency assistance if needed.
