India, US chart path to power AI growth through energy, infrastructure
India and the United States are intensifying cooperation on artificial intelligence infrastructure, focusing on energy security and digital networks to support the region's AI economy expansion.

Senior officials and industry leaders from India and the United States gathered in New York for a strategic roundtable on strengthening bilateral partnership in artificial intelligence, energy and digital infrastructure. The discussion, organized by the Consulate General of India in collaboration with renewable energy firm ReNew and the US-India Strategic and Partnership Forum, brought together over 40 participants spanning government, industry, academia, investment and civil society sectors.
Key participants included Santosh Kumar Sarangi, Secretary of India's Ministry of New and Renewable Energy, USISPF President and CEO Mukesh Aghi, World Bank Executive Director Neelkanth Mishra, and ReNew Chairman and CEO Sumant Sinha. The dialogue focused on critical infrastructure challenges emerging from India's AI sector growth, including scaling data center investments, ensuring grid resilience and mobilizing capital for cross-border energy projects.
The roundtable underscored the need for reliable power supply systems capable of meeting the surging electricity demands from AI-driven industries. Participants emphasized that sustained investment in digital infrastructure and renewable energy capacity would be essential for both nations to capitalize on AI opportunities while maintaining energy security.
The initiative reflects growing recognition that AI infrastructure development requires coordinated efforts across energy, technology and financial sectors. By aligning policy frameworks and investment strategies, India and the United States aim to create an enabling environment for AI ecosystem growth across the bilateral partnership.
