India-US ties 'very good,' will strengthen regardless of political shifts: Goyal

India's bilateral relationship with the United States extends far beyond commerce and remains fundamentally sound, according to Goyal, who dismissed concerns about potential strain from shifts in Washington's political establishment.

"The relationship is already very good. I don't see any problem as we speak," Goyal said at the Bloomberg New Economy event. "The relationship with the US that India enjoys is very substantive and very consequential for the world, being two large democracies."

The minister's remarks came in response to questions about whether ties would improve following transitions in US political leadership. He emphasized that the partnership spans multiple strategic pillars including trade, defence, technology cooperation, critical minerals collaboration, and strong people-to-people connections.

Goyal noted that the US remains India's largest trading partner and is expected to retain that position in coming years. He expressed satisfaction with existing bilateral agreements and saw no impediments to their smooth implementation or future development.

The assurances underscore New Delhi's confidence in the structural resilience of the India-US partnership, which officials regard as rooted in shared democratic values and strategic interests rather than transient political considerations.
