Indian activist party vows to continue protests despite leader detentions

Delhi police arrested Abhijeet Dipke, founder of the Cockroach People's Party (CJP), along with party leaders Sourav Das and Ashutosh Ranka ahead of demonstrations scheduled at Jantar Mantar, a prominent protest site in the capital.

The detentions came as the activist organization ramped up its campaign demanding the immediate resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. The party has not specified the charges or duration for which the leaders were taken into custody.

Despite the arrests, CJP officials said the organization would intensify nationwide demonstrations calling for the election chief's ouster. Party representatives indicated that the detention of leadership would not derail their protest strategy or weaken their mobilization efforts across the country.

The arrests mark an escalation in tensions between the activist organization and authorities as the CJP broadens its campaign against the election commission's leadership. The party has previously organized demonstrations in multiple Indian cities as part of its broader push for institutional accountability.
