Indian Air Chief Credits Autonomous Drones in Recent Operations

Air Chief Marshal A.P. Singh underscored the strategic importance of air superiority in modern warfare at his year-end press briefing, noting that aerospace capabilities form the backbone of any nation's defence infrastructure. Singh pointed to the successful deployment of autonomous drone systems in recent operations as a demonstration of India's growing indigenous military capabilities. The Air Chief highlighted what he termed Operation Sindoor as a significant achievement, attributing its success to advanced drone technology developed through domestic programmes. Singh stressed three key priorities for the Indian Air Force: operational excellence, self-sufficiency in defence manufacturing, and the integration of artificial intelligence across platforms. His remarks come as the Air Force continues to modernize its fleet and develop indigenous weapon systems to reduce dependence on foreign equipment. Singh, who is set to retire later this month, used the occasion to reaffirm the service's commitment to technological advancement and operational readiness in an increasingly complex security environment.
