Indian authorities seize Rs 3,000 crore drugs haul in Arabian Sea

A major drug trafficking operation has been disrupted in the Arabian Sea following a joint operation by the Indian Coast Guard and the Gujarat Anti-Terrorism Squad (ATS). The authorities intercepted an Iranian-flagged vessel and recovered approximately 526 kilograms of contraband drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine, with an estimated street value of Rs 3,000 crore.

Five Pakistani nationals, all residents of Peshawar, were arrested during the operation. The suspects have been identified and are currently in custody for interrogation. Officials said the seizure represents a significant blow to narcotics smuggling networks operating across the Arabian Sea.

The contraband was discovered during routine maritime surveillance and interception operations conducted by the Coast Guard. The recovery marks one of the substantial drug seizures in the region in recent months, as authorities continue efforts to combat cross-border trafficking networks.

The detained individuals and seized contraband have been handed over to competent authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings. The case highlights the ongoing vigilance maintained by Indian maritime and security agencies to prevent drug smuggling through Indian waters.
