Indian business delegations explore trade opportunities at Colombo summit

Representatives from the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Cochin Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CCCI) attended the summit, organised by the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce on October 12–13, according to event organisers.

The visit marks a significant engagement between Indian and Sri Lankan business communities, with participants exploring avenues for expanded commercial cooperation and investment in key sectors. The summit provided a platform for business leaders from both nations to discuss market opportunities and identify potential partnerships.

Sri Lanka has been actively promoting itself as an investment destination in the region, and the participation of major Indian business organisations underscores growing interest from the subcontinent's private sector. The presence of CII and CCCI delegations reflected the scale of economic engagement between India and Sri Lanka, two of South Asia's largest economies.

The delegations' visit comes as both countries seek to strengthen economic ties through bilateral trade initiatives and cross-border investment opportunities. Officials from the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce hosted the Indian business representatives throughout their visit to Colombo.
