The Indian Embassy in Abu Dhabi has warned Indian nationals residing in or planning to migrate to the UAE to exercise extreme caution when engaging with recruitment agencies promising employment and visa sponsorship. Authorities have identified a growing number of fraudulent schemes targeting vulnerable job seekers, particularly those seeking lucrative positions in the Gulf region.
The embassy advisory highlights the modus operandi of these scam operations, which typically involve substantial upfront payments for job placements, visa processing, and residency arrangements. Victims are often lured with promises of high-paying positions and assured pathways to permanent residency, only to discover the job offers are fictitious or the terms vastly different from those advertised.
Indian missions have recommended that prospective migrants verify employment offers directly with employers and use only registered, authorized recruitment agencies. Citizens are advised to conduct thorough background checks on agencies before making any financial commitments and to report suspicious activities to local authorities and embassy officials.
The UAE hosts one of the largest Indian diaspora populations globally, with hundreds of thousands of Indian workers employed across various sectors. Authorities emphasize that legitimate employers and authorized agencies never demand substantial fees before employment confirmation, and that visa-related payments should only be made through official government channels.
