Indian IPO market hits record ₹94,205 crore in first half of FY27

India's primary market has reached an unprecedented milestone with 78 companies launching main board IPOs during the first half of FY27, mobilising ₹94,205 crore in aggregate funds, according to data released by Primedatabase.com. The fundraising total surpasses the previous record of ₹69,533 crore, which was raised by 65 IPOs during the corresponding six-month period in FY26.

The robust performance is particularly noteworthy given the challenging conditions under which it was achieved. The IPO market experienced a sluggish opening to the financial year, with only ₹3,794 crore raised in the first quarter. Additionally, secondary market volatility persisted through much of the half-year period, yet failed to dampen investor appetite for new listings.

The outlook for continued momentum appears strong. Primedatabase data indicates that 145 companies with Sebi approval are preparing to raise approximately ₹2.78 lakh crore through IPO routes, while a further 102 firms representing potential issuances of ₹1.87 lakh crore are currently awaiting market clearance. This substantial pipeline suggests the primary market could sustain elevated activity levels in the coming months.
