Indian Oil Corporation has committed substantial capital for the development of a natural gas pipeline project spanning key locations in southern India. The company will invest approximately Rs 2,449 crore towards the Kochi-Kanyakumari-Thoothukudi Natural Gas Pipeline (KTPL), according to official announcements.

The investment will cover all phases of the pipeline infrastructure, including laying of pipelines, construction of associated facilities, and operational expenses. The project is designed to strengthen natural gas distribution networks across Kerala and Tamil Nadu, regions that have seen growing demand for cleaner fuel alternatives.

The KTPL initiative forms part of broader efforts to expand India's natural gas pipeline network and improve energy accessibility in underserved markets. The southern corridor has been identified as strategically important for meeting regional energy requirements and supporting industrial and residential consumption.

The pipeline project is expected to enhance supply chain efficiency and support India's transition towards increased natural gas utilization as part of its energy diversification strategy. Once operational, the infrastructure will facilitate gas distribution to multiple sectors across the three identified coastal and inland hubs.
