Making her Asian Games debut, India's Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza has reached the women's singles semifinals in Teqball at the 2026 Asian Games, positioning herself to secure the country's first-ever medal in the sport.

Quimcy Joaquim Dsouza advanced to the last four of the Teqball women's singles competition after topping her group with two impressive victories in Nagoya on Friday. The 24-year-old Indian opened her campaign with a stunning upset over Japan's top-seeded Yuina Sakamoto, winning 2-1 in a 43-minute encounter with scores of 10-12, 12-11, 13-11. She followed this with a commanding 2-0 victory against Cambodia's Koemyean DY, claiming the match in just 24 minutes with a scoreline of 12-9, 12-7.
Dsouza's group-topping finish earned her a bye through the quarterfinals, setting up a semifinal clash against Indonesia's Sumaya on Saturday. A victory in that match will guarantee India its maiden medal in Teqball, the foottennis sport making its debut at the continental Games alongside five other new sports.
Should Dsouza falter in the semifinals, she will retain an opportunity to claim bronze through the medal playoff match. The Indian's impressive run through the tournament has underscored her potential to deliver a landmark achievement for Indian sport at the 2026 Asian Games.
