Captain Smit Machchhar is receiving excellent medical treatment and recovering satisfactorily following a violent attack in the cockpit of flydubai flight FZ1073 on Wednesday, according to a statement from the Indian Embassy in the United Arab Emirates. The pilot sustained serious injuries when his co-pilot assaulted him during the flight from Dubai to Tel Aviv. The embassy said it remained in regular contact with Machchhar's family and local authorities while extending full support to facilitate his recovery.

UAE authorities, which are leading the investigation into the incident, have characterised the co-pilot's actions as an attempted terrorist act. According to UAE Attorney General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi, the co-pilot wielded a crash axe to attack Machchhar and made an apparent attempt to seize control of the aircraft.

The Indian Embassy expressed gratitude to the UAE government for the medical care provided to Machchhar and joined well-wishers in hoping for his swift recuperation. The incident has drawn considerable attention given the potential threat posed to aviation safety and the bravery displayed during the emergency response.
