Indian Railways Launches Second Vande Bharat Express on Delhi-Patna Route

Indian Railways has unveiled plans to operate an additional Vande Bharat Express train on the New Delhi-Patna route, offering passengers greater travel flexibility during the peak festive period. The announcement comes as the national carrier seeks to augment capacity on this heavily-traveled corridor connecting the national capital with Bihar.

The new service will operate 16 trips in each direction, according to railway officials. Starting October 22, 2026, from New Delhi and October 24, 2026, from Patna, the train will provide a modern, high-speed travel option for commuters and festival travelers. When combined with an existing Vande Bharat Express special already announced on the route, the corridor will see train services six days per week, with Friday marked as a non-operational day.

The Vande Bharat Express, India's domestically-manufactured semi-high-speed train, has gained popularity for its enhanced passenger amenities, improved travel comfort, and reduced journey time. The addition of this second service reflects Railways' commitment to modernizing connectivity between major metros and tier-two cities, particularly during high-demand periods.

The move is expected to benefit thousands of passengers traveling between Delhi and Patna for festivals and regular business purposes, providing more scheduling options and reducing travel congestion on the route.
