The Northern Railway has revised operational schedules for 110 trains serving New Delhi railway station (NDLS) as part of security measures for the BRICS Summit 2026, scheduled for mid-September. The changes will take effect from September 11 through September 13, affecting both passenger and freight services in the capital region.
The cancellations and diversions are being implemented to ensure unhindered security operations and facilitate the movement of delegates and dignitaries attending the summit. New Delhi railway station, one of the nation's busiest terminals, serves as a crucial transportation hub connecting the capital with major cities across India.
Passengers have been advised to check revised schedules with the railway authorities and plan their journeys accordingly during the summit period. The Northern Railway has indicated that alternative arrangements will be made to minimise disruption to commuters, though specific details regarding rerouted services remain under finalisation.
This marks the second time India has hosted the BRICS summit, bringing together leaders from Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. The government has undertaken extensive preparations across multiple agencies to ensure the summit's smooth conduct.
