Indian Railways suspends 35 Bihar-bound trains amid bridge maintenance work
Railway authorities have announced significant service disruptions affecting trains operating to and from Bihar as maintenance work continues on the Rajendra Bridge. A total of 35 trains have been cancelled while 33 others have been diverted or rerouted.

Indian Railways has implemented extensive changes to train operations on routes serving Bihar due to ongoing construction work on the Rajendra Bridge, a critical rail infrastructure connecting multiple states in eastern India. The disruptions represent one of the larger service modifications undertaken in recent months, affecting connectivity to major cities including Patna, Barauni, and Mokama.
According to railway officials, the operational changes encompass three categories of service adjustments. Thirty-five trains have been completely cancelled for the duration of the maintenance work, while 33 additional services have been diverted to alternative routes. Several trains are being terminated at stations before their scheduled destinations or being operated from different originating points to manage the transit disruption.
The impact extends across multiple railway corridors, with services to and from Patna, Barauni, Mokama, Kiul, Jaynagar, and Howrah experiencing interruptions. Passengers have been advised to consult the latest service schedules before planning their journeys, as the railway administration continues to update the timetable based on construction progress.
Railway authorities have not specified an end date for the maintenance project. Commuters and long-distance travelers are being urged to check official railway websites and helpline services for real-time information regarding affected services and alternative travel options. The railway ministry has emphasized that these measures are temporary and aimed at ensuring long-term infrastructure integrity.
