Indian Railways is expanding its Vande Bharat fleet with the introduction of sleeper-configured trains designed to cater to long-distance overnight travel. The new services will connect two strategically important corridors across India's transportation network.
The Mumbai-Bangalore Vande Bharat Sleeper is scheduled to commence operations on October 31, while the Varanasi-New Delhi service will begin on November 1, according to the railway ministry's implementation timeline. These additions represent a significant step in modernizing India's overnight rail connectivity, offering passengers enhanced comfort features associated with the Vande Bharat brand.
The sleeper variants will integrate the semi-high-speed train's signature amenities with overnight accommodation facilities, featuring redesigned coach configurations to maximize sleeping berths. The services are expected to compete effectively with existing overnight rail options while maintaining the operational efficiency that has characterized standard Vande Bharat operations.
Passengers will be able to access detailed information regarding route specifics, intermediate station stops, departure and arrival timings, fare structures, and reservation protocols through Indian Railways' official booking portals and authorized ticketing channels. The introduction of these services reflects the ministry's broader strategy to modernize long-distance rail travel across key economic corridors.
