Indian Railways to run 16-coach Vande Bharat express between Delhi and Patna

Indian Railways has announced plans to operate a dedicated Vande Bharat express service on the Delhi-Patna route during the festive season to accommodate increased passenger traffic. The special train, comprising 16 coaches, will commence operations from October 16 and is designed to manage the surge in travel during Chhath and Diwali celebrations.

The service aims to provide an efficient alternative to existing rail connectivity between the two major cities. With a journey time of approximately 13 hours, the Vande Bharat express offers a faster travel option compared to conventional trains on this route. The semi-high-speed train is equipped with modern amenities and enhanced passenger comfort features.

Railways officials have stated that the festive season service responds to anticipated demand during the Chhath and Diwali period, when substantial numbers of passengers travel between northern India's major urban centers. The initiative reflects efforts to expand capacity and improve service quality during peak travel periods.

The Delhi-Patna corridor remains one of significant importance for rail connectivity in the region, connecting the national capital with Bihar's major commercial hub. The introduction of the Vande Bharat service on this route underscores Indian Railways' focus on deploying modern rolling stock for high-demand corridors.
