A routine baggage check by Government Railway Police (GRP) and Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction in Chandauli district resulted in the seizure of 43 lakh rupees in undeclared cash on Thursday. The young passenger, who was traveling from Patna to New Delhi in a general compartment, could not produce any legitimate documentation to justify possession of the large sum. Railway authorities immediately notified the Income Tax department after the discovery, raising concerns about the possible source and nature of the funds. The Income Tax team has assumed custody of the seized amount and commenced a formal investigation into the matter. Officials said the case would be pursued to determine whether the cash was subject to tax compliance requirements or involved in any unlawful activity.
