Indian startup GalaxEye to deploy 30 satellites with patented imaging tech

GalaxEye Space has achieved a significant milestone by obtaining US patent protection for its proprietary satellite imaging technology, marking a breakthrough for India's emerging space startup ecosystem. The patented technology represents a fusion of optical imaging and Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR), enabling the capture of high-quality satellite imagery regardless of atmospheric conditions such as cloud cover and smoke.

The hybrid approach addresses a long-standing challenge in Earth observation, where optical systems traditionally struggle to penetrate cloud cover and adverse weather. By combining optical sensors with SAR capabilities, GalaxEye's satellites can deliver consistent, detailed imagery for applications spanning agriculture, urban planning, disaster management, and infrastructure monitoring.

With the patent secured, GalaxEye Space has outlined an ambitious expansion roadmap. The startup plans to deploy a constellation of 30 satellites within a five-year timeframe, positioning itself as a significant player in India's growing space economy. This deployment strategy will establish a dedicated imaging network tailored for regional and global demands.

The achievement underscores India's growing capabilities in space technology innovation and the rising prominence of startups in the sector. As the government continues to liberalize space activities through initiatives like IN-SPACe, private companies like GalaxEye are emerging as key contributors to India's technological advancement and economic growth in the space industry.
