Indian startup TakeMe2Space to launch orbital data centre on Falcon 9

TakeMe2Space, a Hyderabad-based space technology company, has announced plans to establish India's inaugural orbital data centre by 2028. The venture will see two 100-kilogram satellites launched aboard a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket, marking a significant milestone in India's space-based computing infrastructure.

Each satellite will be equipped with Nvidia Thor GPUs alongside 100 terabytes of storage capacity, enabling high-performance computational capabilities in low Earth orbit. The satellites will also feature optical links for data transmission, facilitating connectivity between the orbital constellation and ground stations.

The initial two-satellite deployment represents the foundation of a broader vision. TakeMe2Space has outlined plans to expand the constellation to six satellites, potentially enhancing data processing capacity and coverage for users across the region. The architecture reflects growing global interest in edge computing and distributed data processing beyond terrestrial infrastructure.

The project positions India among emerging players in space-based computing, a sector gaining traction as organisations seek alternatives to traditional ground-based data centres. The orbital platform could serve applications spanning artificial intelligence, earth observation and real-time data analytics, though specific commercial partnerships have not yet been disclosed.
