Investors planning to trade in India's stock markets during November should note the extended holiday calendar, with both the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and National Stock Exchange (NSE) remaining shut for a total of 11 days throughout the month.
The closures include regular weekends and festival-related holidays. Two additional days off have been allocated due to Diwali-Balipratipada and Guru Nanak Jayanti celebrations, which fall on weekdays this year. These extended breaks are part of India's standard market holiday framework that aligns trading schedules with major national and religious observances.
Despite the regular closure on Diwali, November 8, the exchanges will conduct a special ceremonial trading session known as Muhurat trading. This traditional market opening, observed for auspicious beginnings, allows select participants to conduct a limited number of trades during a designated time window on the festival day.
Market participants are advised to consult the official holiday calendars published by the BSE and NSE to plan their trading activities accordingly. The Muhurat trading session timing and participation details remain available on the exchanges' respective websites.
