Student teams from Assam, Delhi, Gujarat, Jharkhand, Jammu and Kashmir, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha, Tamil Nadu and Uttar Pradesh have been named national winners at the Viksit Bharat Buildathon, a platform designed to foster technological innovation among India's youth.
Among the winning entries were a bomb-diffusing robot and smart glasses technology, demonstrating the calibre of engineering and problem-solving capabilities emerging from India's academic institutions. The competition drew participation from students across multiple disciplines, with projects ranging from defence and security applications to emerging consumer technologies.
The Buildathon represents part of broader efforts to encourage Indian students to develop indigenous solutions for national development priorities. By drawing talent from states spanning India's northern, eastern, western and southern regions, the initiative showcases the geographically distributed nature of technological innovation across the country.
The recognition of projects with direct applications in sensitive sectors such as bomb disposal underscores the growing relevance of student-led innovation to India's strategic interests and public safety requirements. Winners are expected to receive support in further developing their prototypes and exploring commercialisation pathways.
