The Indian women's squash contingent delivered a dominant performance against Iran on Tuesday, sweeping all three singles matches to advance to the knockout rounds of the Asian Games tournament. The team's convincing group-stage exit sets up a quarterfinal clash against Singapore on Wednesday.
Tanvi Khanna opened the proceedings with a straight-sets victory after her opponent Narges Soltani retired while trailing 5-11, 0-3. Anahat Singh, who won silver in the individual squash event at the Games, extended India's advantage with a commanding 3-0 win over Fereshteh Eghtedari, posting scores of 11-5, 11-4, 11-7 to seal an unassailable 2-0 lead for the team.
Veteran campaigner Joshna Chinappa completed the clean sweep in the third singles match, defeating Najmeh Boushehrizadeh 3-0 with a clinical performance that included a dominant first game won 11-1. Chinappa, who also secured bronze in the mixed doubles event, demonstrated her experience with wins of 11-1, 11-3, and 11-9.
India topped Pool C after earlier victories against both China and Japan. The team's unbeaten group stage record has positioned them favorably for their quarterfinal encounter against Singapore.
