Indians can now update address in Aadhaar and PAN online from home

Aadhaar and PAN cards have emerged as critical identity documents for Indians, with their use extending across banking services, tax filing, and access to government welfare schemes. For those who have recently moved to a new residence, updating address details in both documents is now essential to maintain compliance and avoid complications in financial and administrative transactions.

The good news for Indian citizens is that address updates no longer require office visits or lengthy bureaucratic procedures. The process can be completed entirely online from home, offering significant convenience and time savings.

The streamlined procedure involves two sequential steps. First, applicants must update their address in their Aadhaar record through the official channels provided by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI). Once the Aadhaar address has been updated, individuals can then proceed to update their PAN details using the Aadhaar-based e-KYC facility.

This integrated approach leverages the existing e-KYC infrastructure to facilitate seamless address updates across both documents in a single digital process. The system reduces administrative burden on citizens while ensuring that critical identity records remain current and accurate. By completing these updates promptly after relocation, individuals can ensure uninterrupted access to financial services and compliance with tax regulations.
