Indian airline IndiGo has extended flight cancellations to Saudi Arabia, with services to Riyadh remaining suspended until October 31, 2026, while flights to Jeddah, Dammam, and Madinah will stay cancelled through October 27, 2026, according to an official statement from the Indian Embassy in Riyadh.
The prolonged disruptions follow escalating security threats in the region, primarily from drone and missile attacks attributed to Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi movement. These strikes have targeted Saudi Arabia's critical infrastructure, including airports, energy facilities, and other key installations across the kingdom.
The latest extension was prompted by a significant attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam on Wednesday, which resulted in one Indian national being killed and two others wounded. The same day saw another Indian citizen injured in a separate assault on Saudi Aramco's Shaybah oilfield.
The security situation has prompted multiple Indian carriers to reassess their operations in the region. IndiGo's decision reflects the aviation industry's cautious approach to managing passenger safety amid the ongoing regional tensions and demonstrated threats to civilian infrastructure.
