IndiGo flight makes emergency return after hijack threat discovered

Flight 6E-451 of budget carrier IndiGo initiated an emergency return to Kempegowda International Airport in Bengaluru on Wednesday after crew members discovered a threatening note during flight operations. The aircraft had departed from Terminal 1 of the airport when the message was found by cabin staff.

According to reports, the note contained a hijack threat warning and specified a particular time for the alleged incident. The message read: "This flight is going to hijack at 6.30, ignore and see the consequences." Following the discovery, flight operations were immediately altered and the aircraft was diverted back to its point of origin.

The emergency return triggered standard security protocols at the airport. Authorities were notified and the aircraft was subjected to comprehensive security checks upon landing. Passengers and crew were evacuated as per procedure while investigations commenced into the source and authenticity of the threat.

IndiGo, India's largest carrier by market share, has not issued a formal statement regarding the incident. The airline typically cooperates with aviation authorities and security agencies in such matters. The incident adds to ongoing concerns about aviation security and the procedures in place for handling in-flight threats.
