IndiGo is set to transfer 12 international flights from Mumbai's congested Indira Gandhi International Airport to the newly operational Navi Mumbai International Airport beginning February 2027, according to airline sources.
The planned relocation is part of efforts by India's largest carrier by market share to alleviate mounting capacity pressures at Mumbai Airport, one of the country's busiest aviation hubs. The shift will redistribute traffic across the metropolitan region's growing airport infrastructure.
Beyond the flight transfers, IndiGo is simultaneously developing plans to launch additional international routes from the Navi Mumbai facility. The dual strategy of consolidating existing services while expanding the network reflects the airline's confidence in the new airport's capacity and connectivity potential.
The Navi Mumbai International Airport, located approximately 20 kilometers south of the city, has been developed to complement Mumbai's existing aviation infrastructure and handle growing domestic and international demand across the Western region.
