Indonesia, Timor-Leste explore complementary economic strengths

Bali Governor Wayan Koster told delegates at the Bali-Timor-Leste Business Forum in Denpasar that the neighboring countries are well-positioned to develop mutually beneficial economic partnerships. Speaking at the gathering last weekend, Koster emphasized that Indonesia and Timor-Leste could unlock significant growth by identifying sectors where their respective strengths complement one another.

The forum brought together business leaders and policymakers from both nations to discuss collaborative opportunities. The discussions reflect broader efforts to strengthen bilateral ties and expand trade relations between the two Southeast Asian neighbors.

Timor-Leste, which gained independence in 2002, has increasingly sought to deepen regional economic integration. Indonesia, as the region's largest economy, has positioned itself as a key partner for smaller neighbors looking to develop export-oriented industries and attract investment.

The business forum represents part of broader diplomatic engagement aimed at creating sustainable economic frameworks. Officials from both nations have signaled openness to exploring partnerships across multiple sectors, though specific development plans remain to be formalized through ongoing discussions between governments and private sector stakeholders.
