IndusInd General Insurance appoints Sharad Mathur as MD & CEO

IndusInd General Insurance Company Ltd, a subsidiary of IndusInd International Holdings Ltd (IIHL) Group, has announced the appointment of Sharad Mathur as Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, the company said in a statement on Tuesday. The appointment has received all necessary statutory approvals.

Mathur brings three decades of experience in the insurance sector and financial services industry. He is credited with strong expertise in organisational transformation, distribution expansion, technology-led innovation, and corporate governance. His career trajectory demonstrates consistent success in scaling insurance operations and strengthening operational infrastructure.

Most recently, Mathur served as MD and CEO of Universal Sompo General Insurance for over six years. During his tenure, he led the company's transformation initiatives and expanded its distribution network while enhancing risk management frameworks and customer servicing capabilities through technology integration.

Prior to Universal Sompo, Mathur held senior leadership positions at SBI General Insurance and ICICI Lombard, contributing to both organisations' growth during their early operational phases. His experience spans the full spectrum of general insurance operations, from foundation-building to scaling operations in competitive markets.

At IndusInd General Insurance, Mathur will be responsible for steering the company's strategic direction during its next growth phase, leveraging his extensive experience in market expansion and digital transformation within India's evolving insurance landscape.
