Infant among six killed in Mountain Province truck crash
A commercial truck plunged into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Tuesday, killing six passengers including a young child. Seventeen others aboard the vehicle sustained injuries in the accident.

Six people, including an infant, were killed when an Elf truck veered off the road and into a ravine in Bontoc, Mountain Province on Tuesday afternoon. The vehicle was carrying 27 passengers at the time of the crash on September 15.
The truck was en route from Isabela to Bakun town in Benguet, traveling through Paracelis town in Mountain Province, when it skidded and left the roadway. The exact cause of the accident remains under investigation by local authorities.
Seventeen passengers were injured in the incident and have been receiving medical treatment. The identities of those killed have not been immediately released pending notification of family members.
The accident underscores ongoing safety concerns on provincial roads in the Cordillera region, where challenging terrain and weather conditions frequently contribute to vehicle mishaps. Authorities have appealed to drivers to exercise caution on mountain routes, particularly during periods of reduced visibility.
